History

St. Joseph Peace Mission for Children is a non-profit organization in Owensboro, Kentucky which provides a safe, nurturing caring home in a Christian environment, nourishment, and counseling services to neglected, dependent, abused children, sibling groups, pregnant children and children with children.

We provide emergency shelter, licensed by the State of Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children. We are designated as the emergency shelter for the national Safe Place Project in Owensboro. We care for boys and girls age 18 and under. Siblings from the same family can stay together at the Mission, which is not always possible in other placements. And, the Mission is the only residential facility in the area that will care for pregnant teens and teen mothers with their children.

Services provided to children at St. Joseph Peace Mission range from ensuring the most basic and essential, daily living needs of each child to using evidence-based practices and techniques to treat and address mental health issues. More than 9,000 children in Kentucky are in state custody – waiting for out-of-home placement where they can feel safe, loved and cared for. St. Joseph Peace Mission for Children is ready, willing and able to provide for those needs – but we can’t do it alone, we need your help!
